The Plays (7): Tongues |
|
Synopsis Kay is a reporter holed up somewhere in the Balkans - in an area not unlike the Yorkshire Dales - with only a dead soldier for company. What is the BBC protocol in these situations? Cast Two (1 male, 1 female) Duration 30 minutes. Tongues is a brand new short play commissioned by Menagerie Theatre. It received its premiere at the Hotbed Festival, July 2008, in Cambridge, at The Junction. Kay.............Shuna Snow; Soldier.......Gary MacKay Directed by Paul Bourne. Fraser's View "I have written quite a bit about war, and about how broken the world is. I'm increasingly interested in exploring how I would like the world to be, seeing characters take the small steps away from the war and hatred that any of us might take. Tongues is pretty dark, I think, but also almost irresponsibly optimistic. It is about struggle, a drama about the neuroses of war, the vagaries of map reading and why the dead make such good listeners."
